A new year and a new start, if you are currently seeking advancement in your career and have not already purchased a portfolio, perhaps it is time to think about your own!
We all work hard and take pride in our careers and there is no reason why we should not be rewarded. Never be afraid of change and always challenge yourself to new and exciting paths.
Build your Career Web Portfolio
An online career web portfolio is an investment in YOU and it is important to remember that it should be a life time, work in progress project. A portfolio does not need to launch with 100’s of pages, as that would certainly confuse any prospect employer. As discussed in our November 2009 Article, “You’re Career Portfolio: Layout Design”, less can be much more and especially if you’re content has been correctly organized. Decide what your career objectives are and if the material added to a career portfolio will help meet those goals.
We remind our clients that on a regular basis a portfolio should be reviewed for any outdated links and most importantly that their resume is always the most recent. This is especially important for those who may have met their objectives and perhaps have become busy with their every day responsibilities. New additions may also include:
- New Location
- Recent Education Achievements
- Job Promotions
- Presentations or Article Updates
- Blogs, Directories or Web links
Always contact MyCareerHighlights.com (or your administration link if available) if you have new material that should be included.
